My sister and I stayed at the Bel Air during Christmas (Dec. 25-31, 2008). The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly but it took eight tries to get the room key coded correctly, the balcony's sliding glass door didn't have a lock (we pointed this out on the 25th and it was never corrected), and there was no safety bar to put in the door so it was always unlocked. There were no bath robes or beach towels for us the entire stay. Instead of beach towels guests had to scramble for small bath towels which were placed at the pool area a few times a day. There were no menus in English or information about the spa services in the room. The pool area was nice.

If you visit this hotel with very average expectations, you won't be disappointed. The staff speaks only a few English words, the hotel is somewhat ""tired"" and in need of upkeep. The drinks were poor. The food was good. The neighboring hotels look like they've been hit with small artillery shells and feels like a ""war zone"". I would not book Travel agent, as they're phone customers service is very poor. We had a problem and had to speak to them. It was useless.

The hotel is top luxury, the atention is marvelous and everyone makes you feel right at home. The food is outstanding!! With a great variety and quality of beverages, spending time at the pool watching the ocean... A totally new and wonderful experience

This hotel is not what it is made out to be. The websites are very misleading. They basically took a piece of the tired resort called Cancun Plaza and painted it white and called it the Bel Air Collection. The staff speaks only a few English words, the hotel is somewhat """"tired"""" and in need of upkeep. Only 1 restaurant along the side of the pool with changed menus. I cannot understand the one comment one person made that this hotel can be in contention as one of the best in Cancun, that?s a joke not even close.
